Did You Know - Acupuncture can also help Menstrual Pain / Period Cramps?

how acupuncture works

Acupuncture works by reducing pro-inflammatory markers, or proteins in the body. Various studies have shown that by doing acupuncture, you can significantly decrease pro-inflammatory markers, which decrease inflammation and reduces pain.

Acupuncture also works through the neurohormonal pathways. Basically, by placing needles in specific areas in the body, they stimulate the nervous system, which sends signals to the brain to release neural hormones such as beta-Endorphins that make the patient feel euphoric, or happy and decreasing pain.

The fundamental belief of acupuncture is that illness is the result of blocked or interrupted chi. Chi provides your body with healing energy. Acupuncture seeks to remove these blockages and return your energy flow to a state of balance.

Services offered

Acupuncture (needling)

Thin, stainless steel needles are used painlessly in the skin or muscle to ease and treat muscular pain, helping to release knots or spasm. Acupuncture also seeks to remove blockages in chi and return energy flow to a state of balance.

Cupping

The suction and negative pressure provided by cupping can loosen muscles, encourage blood flow and sedate the nervous system. Cupping is used to relieve back and neck pains, stiff muscles, fatigue, migraines and even cellulite.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves the burning of a small spongy herb to help facilitate healing. Moxa is warming and moving and it promotes circulation of Blood and Qi which is particularly good for pain. It has been especially popular for menstrual cramps and to heal bruises more quickly.
